Quarantine Birthday Party

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

We have reached the part of quarantine where we're throwing birthday parties for stuffed animals.

But not just any stuffed animal.

For Lamby.

Our 3-year-old told us the other day it was Lamby's birthday. "He's three but he's going to be five. Lamby can't eat cake . . . but I can eat it for him!"

*We weren't fooled. The "birthday" was just a play to eat cake. But what's a good quarantine if you're not baking and packing on the pounds??

(We call this a party mask.)

So anyway, I made triple chocolate cake for Lamby, who is very loved. By all of us.

It is this Lamby who goes to doctor appointments and gets the first check up, who keeps the car warm in the winter while we get groceries, who went to the hospital to meet baby sis and lay in her bassinet, who we ask, "Do we have Lamby?" every time we go on a road trip or leave the zoo, as if he was another child we were counting off.

So we ate to his good health, and that he may never ever be lost in our neighbor's backyard for a week ever again.

And for the record -- when next week, our 3-year-old tells us it's Grover's or Snoopy's or whoever's birthday, we're not doing it. We can only handle one of these chocolate cakes or we won't have pants that fit when we're allowed to leave our houses.

Happy Birthday, Lamby! I’ve enjoyed chatting with you on FaceTime and am looking forward to seeing you in person (in lamb??) after this quarantine is over. Many more years of a good life with Peter!

Love, Grandma Cici

Happy birthday, Lamby! I, too, feel like coronavirus has aged us two years in just a couple of months. We salute your steady companionship, ability to survive the washing machine, and general snuggliness. Here's to 3 (or 5) more years!
